L-5, Lakeside Power Plant, 1965. Paul Weyrich photo. |
Locomotive L-5 was built during WW II. It had a wooden body due
to wartime steel shortages. The locomotive was not popular with crews and was said to shock people inside the cab on damp
days. L-5 was retired by the late 1950s. Initially preserved, the L-5 was dismantled during the late 1980s. Its
parts were used to restore other equipment.
